Mar 03, 07 | How to Remove U3

the driveLast November on the infamous black friday, I purchased a SanDisk 4GB Cruzer Micro flash drive for $49 with a $20 mail in rebate. The drive works great, it’s very small, has a ton of space. There’s just one problem. For some reason SanDisk decided to install an annoying obtuse software package on the drive called U3. Now everytime I want to get something on or off the drive, instead of the usual removable harddrive, I have to deal with the U3 interface, which for some reason always initially recognizes the cruzer as a cd drive, then, after a minute, as flash memory. On top of this, the computers in any lab at school won’t recognize the drive because it is attempting to install something on the computer.

This is definitely impetus to remove the software. And it’s easy. SanDisk provides a utility for doing just so.

Hope that helps.
