In making websites, one discovers certain web applications which make the process go smoother and quicker. For example, alot of time can be devoted to finding the best possible color combinations for your site if you don’t know where to look. Thankfully, a few people have created applets which shorten this time considerably. However, I will only mention two such applets since, in combination, they seem to do everything I need.
WellStyled.com’s Color Scheme Generator 2:
With this, you can choose a single initial color and instantly have 19 other colors which contrast/blend well with your original color. Choose from normal, dark, and light pastels, or even high and low contrast. You can even enter an initial hex color and work from there. I find this program the most useful when I am just starting out. It really helps get an idea of what color combinations work and which ones do not. I am pretty sure that I have used this utility for practically every site I have designed, so it definitely gets my personal stamp of approval.
Slayeroffice.com’s Color Palette Generator:
After you have an initial color set, you need to tweak the individual colors to make the combination even more aesthetically pleasing. With the this applet, it could never have been easier. Enter the base color you want to play with, and then blend it with other colors (default white and black) to change its tone. You can blend and mix until the only noticeable difference between the shades is the hexidecimal code, thus allowing you to find the perfect color for your site.
