Jul 14, 08 | Hacked! Supposed attack site.

Sometime in the past couple weeks, //etano.net was hacked by spammers.  I first noticed when I tried the check the homepage and I got a message from firefox 3, that my own site was an “attack site“. 

This security feature is new with firefox 3, where it checks each site you visit against a google security database.  Whether this is a good feature is still up in the air, i.e. should google have the right to control what you see?  At any rate, google spiders reported //etano.net to be linking to several poker sites.

Apparently this is endemic (ex: 1, 2 , 3) with quite a few wordpress blogs. Luckily, I caught it early on and made sure to remove all the malicious code.  Here is nice tutorial on how to clean your site if this were to happen to you.
